Its time for another edition of name that RINO, with a guest appearance from Democrats saying stupid things and a heaping spoonful of scorched earth from yours truly. You see, while I am happy to report that the North Carolina House has passed Constitutional Carry, there is a strong likelihood that Democratic Governor Josh Stein will move to veto the bill and that the legislature may not have the numbers to override the veto thanks to fake Republicans who need to be sent to the unemployment line in the next election. |

The U.S. Department of Justice is telling a federal appeals court that Illinois gun and magazine ban is unconstitutional.
A three-judge panel of the Seventh Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals is accepting briefs in the lawsuit challenging Illinois 2023 ban on semi-automatic firearms and magazines over certain capacities. The lawsuit comes from the Southern District of Illinois where a federal judge last fall found the law violates the Second Amendment to keep and bear arms. |

Last week, after they were re-listed for conference 15 times, the U.S. Supreme Court finally denied petitions for review on two major Second Amendment cases, with just one vote shy of the four needed for review.
Snope v. Brown was an appeal of a case upholding Marylands ban on semi-automatic rifles such as the AR-15. NRA had filed an amicus brief in the case. The Fourth Circuit denied a Second Amendment challenge to the ban by, among other things, holding that such rifles are not arms under the Second Amendment. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
In the end, more than freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all security, comfort, and freedom. When the Athenians finally wanted not to give to society but for society to give to them, when the freedom they wished for most was freedom from responsibility then Athens ceased to be free and was never free again. EDWARD GIBBON [On ancient Athens] |
